Privacy policy

This policy describes information processed by Aura on whatsmyaura.ai and in the Aura iOS app.

• Account information: your name, email address, sign-in details, and, if you choose Google sign-in on the website, the profile information supplied by Google. Passwords created for Aura are stored as hashes.
• Aura profiles: display names, relationships, birth date, birth time, birth location, and the coordinates and time zone used to calculate a chart. Optional information includes a full birth name, a LinkedIn URL, and professional context you paste into Aura.
• Personalization: your questions, conversations, feedback, calibration answers, generated interpretations, and saved context extracted from conversations to personalize later guidance.
• Connections and invitations: profiles you connect, sharing choices, invitation activity, and any recipient name or contact information supplied for an invitation.
• Purchases: your edition, subscription status, purchase identifiers, and billing period. Apple or Stripe handles payment details; Aura does not collect your full card number through its own forms.

Only provide another person’s information when you have permission to do so. Avoid including information in a chat or profile that you do not want Aura and the providers needed for that feature to process.

Aura uses this information to create and maintain your account, calculate birth charts, generate personality and timeline interpretations, answer questions, remember relevant context, compare connected profiles, deliver requested invitations, and maintain subscription access.

Aura also processes technical request information to operate the service, investigate failures, and protect accounts. Birth location is information you enter; Aura does not require access to your device’s current GPS location or address book.

AI-generated guidance can be inaccurate. It is intended for reflection and should not be treated as a verified description of a person or a prediction of an outcome.

The providers used depend on the feature and which services are enabled:

• OpenAI: relevant profile and chart details, questions, recent conversation, saved context, and optional feedback or professional context are sent to generate responses and interpretations.
• Google Maps and Vedic Rishi: location queries are used to resolve coordinates and time zones; birth details are used for astrology calculations when that provider is enabled.
• Apple and Stripe: purchase information is used to process payments and verify subscription access. App Store purchases are handled by Apple; website purchases are handled by Stripe.
• Resend and sharing apps: recipient contact information and invitation content are processed by Resend if Aura sends an email. SMS invitations open your own Messages app for you to review and send; Aura does not send them through an automated SMS provider. When you share using your own email or Messages app, that app and its provider handle delivery.
• Vercel and the database hosting provider: application requests and saved Aura data are processed to host and run the service.
• PostHog, when enabled on the website: activity and browser information, plus account identifiers such as user ID, name, and email, may be used to understand how Aura is used.

These services have their own processing and retention practices. A provider may process data in a country different from yours. Changing a preference in Aura does not retract information already processed to fulfill an earlier request.

Saved profiles are associated with your Aura account. Aura Connect shares connection and comparison information with the other participant after a connection is accepted. Review the sharing settings in each connection before creating a share card.

Invitation links can show a limited preview to someone who has the link. A recipient can copy, forward, or capture information you share; revoking an invitation or changing sharing settings cannot remove copies outside Aura.

Providing a phone number for an invitation does not by itself establish that the recipient agreed to receive automated messages. Only use invitation channels for people who have agreed to receive the relevant communication.

The website uses cookies for sign-in and browser storage for guest profile data and preferences. The iOS app stores its sign-in token in the device Keychain and may keep local settings.

If website analytics is enabled, PostHog may use browser storage and collect interaction data. Your browser can block or clear cookies and site storage, although blocking sign-in cookies may prevent account access. Clearing site storage removes local guest information from that browser; it does not delete a saved Aura account or information already processed by the service.

You can edit profile information, omit optional professional context, change the analysis sources included in a profile, and manage connection sharing settings. The support page explains the available controls.

The iOS app asks before first sending personalized information for AI processing. You can decline or revoke this choice in Account → AI data sharing. The choice applies to that Aura account on that device; it does not change the website’s settings or retract earlier requests.

Use account deletion on the website, or in the iOS app open Account → Privacy & data → Delete Aura account. Aura cancels a linked website subscription before deletion. An App Store subscription must be canceled separately with Apple. See subscription help.

Saved account data is retained to provide your account and its features until you remove it or delete the account. Copies in service-provider systems, operational records, and backups may remain under their applicable retention requirements. Information held by Apple or Stripe and copies shared with other people are not deleted by deleting your Aura account.
